The estate\u2019s different terroirs and the ageing potential of its Muscadets fascinated her and are aspects she has constantly striven to promote. These unique varieties have long been grown in the area. fusion-text-5\"><h4>Lees-ageing provides richness and complexity<\/h4>\n<p>We typically use the\u00a0<strong>traditional\u00a0<\/strong>techniques of the Vignoble Nantais to make our wines, in other words,\u00a0they are<strong> matured in underground vats and on lees. <\/strong>The lees are the natural deposit that nourishes the wine, bringing it <strong>complexity and ageing ability.<\/strong>\u00a0The <a href=\"\/en\/our-wines\/\">wines<\/a> are left on their lees for months or even years in some cases.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"imageframe-align-center\"><span class=\" excellence<\/h4>\n<p>Our terroirs are our key source of inspiration. The Muscadet region is the largest <a href=\"\/en\/our-wines\/\"><strong>dry white wine<\/strong><\/a> making region in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>There are, however, many\u00a0<strong>diverse styles of Muscadet<\/strong>\u00a0due to the region\u2019s differing terroirs.<\/p>\n<p>Beneath our vineyard plots, we find various rocks, including<strong>\u00a0two-mica gneiss, gabbro and micaschist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A section of gneiss slopes down to the micaschist of Saint Fiacre (<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#coing\">Ch\u00e2teau du Coing<\/a><\/span>) towards Monni\u00e8res (<a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#cormeraie\">Grand Fief de la Cormeraie<\/a>). Due to the <strong>confluence<\/strong>, the vines of Ch\u00e2teau du Coing grow on\u00a0<strong>south-facing slopes<\/strong>, which is rare in the Muscadet region. Micaschist is a type of weathered rock that we find in Monni\u00e8res.<\/p>\n<p>The wines of <a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#coing\">Ch\u00e2teau du Coing<\/a> <strong>show floral and fruity notes<\/strong> like lily, wild carnation, pear, and peach and have very <strong>nice minerality<\/strong>, which gives them an elegant style.<\/p>\n<p>The wines of our <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#cormeraie\">Cormeraie<\/a> <\/span>vineyard are driven by <strong>ripe fruit aromas<\/strong>, like peach and apricot.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sur la commune de Gorges, <a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#gravelle\">Le Ch\u00e2teau de la Gravelle<\/a> repose sur des <strong>Gabbros alt\u00e9r\u00e9s<\/strong> et des <strong>argiles \u00e0 quartz<\/strong>. Les raisins sont \u00e0 <strong>maturit\u00e9 tardive<\/strong>. La d\u00e9gustation r\u00e9v\u00e8le des vins sur les <strong>notes fum\u00e9es et de pierre \u00e0 fusil<\/strong>, une tr\u00e8s <strong>belle min\u00e9ralit\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Gorges, our <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"\/en\/our-vineyards\/#gravelle\">Ch\u00e2teau de la Gravelle<\/a><\/span> has a subsoil of <strong>weathered gabbro<\/strong> and <strong>clay with quartz<\/strong>. The grapes here are <strong>late ripening<\/strong>. The national appellations office, INAO, has selected a number of eligible plots within our vineyards. The grapes from these vineyards are subject to strong controls and low yield requirements.
